We are looking for a new place to
camp after Christmas and came across
Ponto Falls. Has anyone been here and could provide me with some feedback on their experience? We are totally self sufficient so don't need amenities but would at least like to have a place to swim and even fish if possible.
Thanks in advance
Jason

We used to
camp there about 15 years ago. Was nice back then. There is no falls as such just some small rapids.

Hi Jason
We did not go into Ponto but from my research i have "
Free camp ground at
Ponto Falls, fifteen kilometres north west of
Wellington with seven kilometres dirt road access.
Bins only. Plenty of
places to
camp alongside the Macquarie River."
This is the river at
Wellington Caves not all that far away - not swimmable.

Macquarie River near Wellington Caves
I did swim in a deep pool near Dubbo.
A report i read last year about Ponto said they found the grass long.
I hope this is of some assistance to you in deciding.

The macquarrie river does not flow anywhere near
the caves.

we camped there 2 weeks ago - lovely spot - grass had recently been mowed and plenty of
water in the river

Jason,
We camped on the river flats there in 2011. Lovely spot.
