Most likely Brake switch.

Possible causes
- Brake switch harness open or shorted
- Brake switch circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty stop lamp switch

From the above looks like Auto Communications Line.

Irrespective what it is and as long as the red Check Engine Light is not on just clear the code and reboot the car's computer systems - normally just switch off and leave for a 10 minutes and see what happens as often these are "intermittent communication errors" and are of not consequence in themselves.

If the error comes back try a couple of more clears and if not successful then get the issue seen too.

The error code relates to an error code to do with the brake switch and accelerator pedal.

The purpose of this circuit is to prevent the engine from stalling, when brakes are suddenly applied. When the brake pedal is depressed, this switch sends a signal to the ECM to stabalise the idle.

Reading the above screen dump, if using an auto transmission are you sure you do not drive with your left foot just resting on the brake pedal like some do.
I often see vehicles accelerating past me with their brake lights ON !

Cheers,
Barry.

Pepper 2

When the fault code was displayed did you suffer any power decrease, I have a scantalk guage on my year 2000 3LTD GU which is designed for pre crd, I usually find that I get fault code 703 I stop the engine clear the fault code and restart. If the code reappears then start looking for the problem starting by checking ALL associated communication lines that relate to that fault code making sure the connectors are clean and securely engaged as they have a habit of vibrating loose.

g'day
i suggest you remove the scanner, place it in front of the right hand wheel, select low range and proceed in a forward motion, then go to a reputable workshop and have it scanned correctly. now having got that of my chest is there an engine light on?
is the vehicle showing signs of distress?
self diagnosis can create more probs as i see in my workshop regularly and the code itself is only an indicator and not an actual cure
hope i've helped

Rick i understand your point of view re self diagnosis, however my local nissan dealership may not be up to your standards,no on site motor electrician,no ability to tune or diagnose many things without seeking outside assistance ,incorrect diagnosis in the past etc, just curious what the reading meant and was going to discuss it with the dealership.
The vehicle is running well no problems and after clearing the display no codes have returned.
