Thanks for the link guys. Absolutely beautiful to see, but a little scary to think how much energy we are using to generate all those lights, not to mention all the other consumers of energy we use.

NASA have given some additional information on the lights
here. Apparently the picture is made up of light from multiple passes/orbits, but the early idea that the lights in WA came from fires seems to now be confirmed. Have a look at the map to see a correlation between lights and burnt areas.
