Having recently returned from the cape, my camper canvas is obviously covered in red dust, I have used the gurney on it but have been unable to clean properly. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can remove the red ingrained dust without damaging the canvas?

Hi

I have cleaned many times our canvas ground sheets with CT18. Spray it on and follow the directions - the longer it is on the better it works.

After a few hours of contact, I get a soft broom, out with the hose and wet the tarp. Brush sections at a time and the dirt will lift out and the results will speak for themselves. I them give the tarps a final good squirt down and let them dry.

I have used the tarps for year and cleaned them this way with no adverse effects. There have been many times when we need extra shelter out in the bush when we have used the tarps to keep the rain off and they are still 100% water proof.

This is what I do and are more than happy with the results.

Cheers

Hi

You should be able to buy it tiny major stove, hardware, automotive store etc. We have been using it for year, from using it to lea the car, cleaning the tarps, and many other uses.

Cheers

CT18 currently on special at SCA Hunter - 20l $69. That will last you a long time even if you wash your truck regularly so maybe share it with a mate.

CT18 should wash the waterproofing out of the canvas quite nicely!
Mate owns a canvas manufacturing business said never use detergent.

Agree Shaker, most manufacturers say clean water and nothing else.

Not knowing what CT18 is and not having used it previously I couldn't comment, however I did not go to a car wash with the camper as I understood that detergents were a no no for canvas. Guess I will have to leave it the dust on as a badge of honour !!!! HG.

hi
i have been using truckwash and /or/ct18 is fine on my canvas tents /awnings and an old canvass annexe for years also
and its the only successful method of getting the red dirt out then i just buy some canvass sealer and spray the cavass with a garden sprayer to reseal it the canvas has never deteriated and it is as good and clean as the day i bought them
some of the canvass blokes get a bit paranoid about this but the proof of the pie is in the eating so to speak tryed and tested a1
cheers

hi hunter
bunnings have it and camping stores will too there is water based which from memory is cheaper with no odour and mineral turps based both work fine except using the mineral based one leaves an odour and requires an airing off period before packing away the turps based one on my lawn area once retarded my lawn from the overspray it got but then that ment less mowing a plus to my way of thinking lol
both types did a good sealing job cant think of brand names
cheers

Why not contact your camper trailer manufacturer & ask their advice?
Or you could go to the Wax Converters website & look for advice, if it's not there I'm sure they would have an email link.
