Just interested to hear feedback from anyone who has stayed at Richmond Wanderest.
We are thinking about staying there a night or two and leaving the van unattended during the day. Wondering what the security is like.
Thanks in advance.

Stayed there October last year. There are no fences around the place, just a couple of boom gates to stop vehicles driving through. It's at the bottom level of the clubs car park (to the north of it.) This Google Map image is dated. The camping area occupies the northern two lanes of the parking plus the not very well marked parking spaces to the north of the green roofed shed.

The place is open but there seems to be no problems. I felt safe leaving my van unattended.

The amenities block is to the south of the tree at the eastern end. It consists of two all in one rooms (ensuite style.) It becomes very busy at the morning peak, especially when there is a few wicked campers there, there is no camp kitchen and the back packer types tend to use the hand basins for washing up. Those with ensuites in their vans should rely on them and not the block (for their own convenience.)

They take bookings. When you arrive park near the boom gates. You go over to the club reception, join the club and pay your power fees if you want power. You are given keys to a power box, the boom gates and the amenities.. You also get some discount tickets for drinks and meals with your membership.

It's a nice place but they need a couple of dunnies separate from the two existing rooms.

We stsyed there in June 2012 over a very wet weekend. Great value, great town and the people at the club are very friendly PLUS you also get a new current photo ID to show to people at other clubs you visit on your travels. Remember to book though.

Was talking to a colleague only last night about it. He says power fees are now $10.00 per person per night.
