Probably about 10,000 others.

It's like Pitt Street on a Friday afternoon.

I was watching Pat Callinan yesterday and he said there's about 100 cars a day on the Telegraph Track (I don't know what time of year he went, but I'm guessing it wasn't too soon after The Wet by the roads and tracks).
100 a day... that's a car every 5 minutes or so.
Hardly the country's quietest road, eh?!
Never been, but I reckon you'll have lots of company...
Enjoy!

Like I said in a post last month, I went up in late October this year and the roads and campsites are almost deserted. At Bamaga they told me visitor numbers always drop off straight after the Qld and southern states' school holidays are over. And if the road has picked up a few more corrugations here and there, balance it out with the safety factor of not having to contend with endless convoys in either direction, and the dust generated.

I have been up there many times over the years (on business), I would NEVER go for the fun of it. Some nice spots but most of it dead boring, with flies, dust and boring scenery.

Yes it is all that but I love it and always have. Maybe it is the thrill of a beautiful spot like Fruitbat Falls after hours of driving where the very trees on the side of the road are the colour of dust. And there are many such places, many not far off the road but unknown to the casual traveller and many no doubt still unknown to me.
