Hi all,
I noticed this article today about Desert Discovery.
The West Online
This group seems to be a
well assembled team of interesting people, who have independent specialties, yet have a common interest in
the desert.
Some readers of Exploroz may be interested. I know a few members have already been to a Desert Discovery Expedition and they have spoke highly of the experience.
Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan
Thanks for that great link. It sounds like they would be a great bunch of people to hang around with and you would get a lot out of one of their field trips.
Cheers
Stephen

Thanks for sharing,
well that is a nice place but the name itself "Lonely Track west of Jerrys Bore" seems like very quite and harmonous place yet kinda creepy :)

G'Day Alan,
My daughter had the great experience of going along with Clive to this years Desert Discovery trip & she hasn't stopped talking about it since! She even bought us a Camel skull back as a momento!
The organizers of this & other events are trying to get the
young people involved as there are many aging environmentalist keen to pass on their knowledge to others.
Thanks for the info.
Cheers
Stu

Why thank you Alan. The article was in last Thursday's West Travel segment. DD was a great experience & I hope I'm invited back next time. Just wished I hadn't got the hole in my LR
tank that forced me to leave earlier than planned.
Keith runs a
well run
camp and even if you're not a scientific type like me the stuff the scientists do is amazing, and what they can find equally so. Pity though about the extensive spinafex fires.
At night we have a campfire where the various scientific team leaders have a show and tell. One of the most amazing thing I saw was a scorpion that glowed yellow/green under ultra violet light.
The interaction with the local TO's was also a highlight and to spend quality time with them was a valuable educational experience.

Hi Dunc,
That show and tell around the campfire sounds like the place to be.
I passed the Rawlinsons recently and thought about your trip, it would have been exciting. I am sure you will be invited back in the next trip in two years. I wonder where that will be?
Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan. The next location is still being negotiated as far as I know. Time will tell. Phil may know more?
