Am currently looking at purchasing an off road camper and have noticed that most have the poly block Tregg hitch. Some campers though have a McHitch which utilises a universal joint much the same as on each end of a tailshaft. I can see that the articulation would be as good as the Tregg but itlooks a bit light on for off road work. Has anyone had any experience with this type of hitch

DB I have one on my 2 tonne off-road van after breaking another
well known brand, so far no drama and easier to hook up than a Treg.

I'll second that. We had a DO35 which was a pain in the butt at an angle or got a bit dirty. Looked good on a flat concrete showroom floor and that's where they should stay!
Cheers.

The McHitch was the best couple of hundred dollars I have ever spent on my CT. Easy peasy to use and can't come off (as it has a locking rod). Tregg was a PITA, designed by a sadist. McHitch is very good gear, and being used on more and more trailers.
Cheers, Tony
