Adventure Way in March

We will be travelling from Brisbane to Perth in early March and was considering the Adventure way to Innamincka then the Strezlecki Track and on to Port Augusta as part of the route. Is this possible, any suggestions?
Travelling in a 100 series with a tent (and wife!).

Thanks, Trevor

HI Have you considered going the Outback Way hooking onto it from Longreach through to Boulia, onto Alice, then through to WA

No reason why you could not do it - just might be still a bit warm (hot). Take plenty of water and make sure your vehicle is in good condition and you will enjoy it.

With respect specifically to the Adventure Way on the Qld side, the road is sealed to the border for all but a 22kms stretch of dirt between the oil fields & the Dig Tree turn-off. However on the SA side the 17kms to Innamincka is the type of road you'd expect out those parts. Not a bad drive to Innamincka from Cunnamulla though. Detour to Noccundra Pub for a beer. It will no doubt be hot in March & you'll probably need it!!

So as already mentioned, provided your car is serviced & in good order you'll have a great trip.

We have travelled this towing a 17ft caravan. We did the 'Old Strzelecki Track' out of Innamincka to where it rejoins the new road at Merty Merty. The first section out of Innamincka is pretty rough so I would leave this alone. Where the old and new tracks cross south of Innamincka you can join the old track and travel through to Merty Merty. It is doable easily and you miss Moomba and a lot of the heavy transport.
