Hi. The trailer is possibly wired up different to the car or wired up wrong. You have possibly blown a fuse. Check the brake light fuse first as the brake pedal activates the auto lock out. Check your other fuses as well. It is easier to check fuses with a test light. Put the alligator clip to a good earth, turn the ignition on,check each fuse at both ends. The test light should light up. If there is a fuse with power at one end only it is normally blown. Cheers,Bob.

Try the instrument fuse (inst)...... chances are your mates trailer has trailer brakes and it's wired up to the reverse pin the trailer plug.

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. Tried to tow the camper off its levelling blocks and the wheels were locked.

Turns out the socket (7 pin Ark brand POS) had turned slightly internally (design fault), allowing a mis-connection.

Blew the brake fuse (under the bonnet in the Prado). 10A mini blade. That also caused the interlock on the gearstick not to work.

Thanks heaps to all you guys who made the effort to help me with my problem....
Yes it was a fuse.
The 10 amp ecu-ig and gauge fuse.
I will keep a few 10 amp fuses in the glove box in future.
Have a merry 4 wheel'n christmas.
