Hi guys
I have a 2011 expanda 17.56.2 outback and it has worked fine for the past 4 weeks
camping at tally
creek caravan
park but since moving yesterday the mains
water doesn't seem to work.
When I plug the hose into the side of the van and turn the parks tap on, nothing happens?!?
No
water comes out from any of the taps. The only way I can get the
water to swirl is by turning the
water pump on and use what is obviously tank
water..
Any suggestion as to what might be happening here?
Thanks in advance
Dan

Hi Dan.
I have a 2009 Jayco Outback Sterling and have also had some
water problems which I think may be related to the under van
water pressure regulator.
It may be that you have the same issue although my
water does come back on after a time of using the
water via the pump which of course is coming directly from the tanks.
I am still trying to solve the issue and in your case I suggest the first thing you do is to check the little
water direction indicator on your
water pipes under the van.
The arrows should run horizontal with the van .
If this does not solve the issue then I am guessing the regulator is the culprit.
Sorry I cannot be any more helpful as I also go through the process of finding the remedy to a similar problem.

Thanks Peter
Yeh I've had a play with the
water direction indicator and just checked to make sure the arrows are pointing horizontal to the van which they are.
How do you know the mains
water is coming back on every now and then if you have your pump switched on? Do you just turn the pump off every now and then to check if your mains
water is working?
Sounds like the regulator then hey?
Thanks for your swift reply.

Most likely your pressure reduction vlave.
There is also a non return valve in the line as
well somewhere which could also affect it.
I guess the only solution is to talk to a plumber or see if you can pull the non return and pressure reduction valve out ad have a look.

Where might I find this said pressure reduction valve?
Is it under the van or inside the cupboard behind the
water inlet point on the van.
Sounds likely that it is something along these lines though.

Check that a wasp hasn't built a nest in the end where you plug your hose into the van pipe - one did on
mine & stopped
water ....... have to break up the clay mud with a thin screwdiver

Yep, saw that on another thread so already checked...no wasps, although that would have been an easier fix probably.

Yes Dan.
After using the pump for say a shower I turn it off then check the mains again.
More often than not the
water flow returns but it is NEVER at a high pressure so this tends to make me think that it is the pressure regulator.
I recently had a mate who is a
water technician (does
water reticulation for wineries/orchards etc and who is pretty handy with his van handy work) and he reckons the regulator is faulty.
His suggestion was to take it out completely and replace it with more pipe. He says
park pressures are never high enough to damage any thing within the van.
Hope you come up with a remedy soon.
Peter

Hi Dan. I had the same problem recently when camped at Curlwaa. The
water is supplied from the
park's own pumps so there is not much pressure. I removed my pressure reducing valve, undid the inlet side and removed the little plastic valve and spring. There is also a gauze strainer in the that had a bit of rubbish in it but my main problem was not enough pressure to open the spring tension. You have reminded me now, I haven't put the valve back together. Cheers,Bob

Have you run your tap at the front of the van?
Sometimes there is an air bubble in the line and the tap can get it out.

Some Jaycos use a Filtamate FM-12-350 Pressure Limiting Valve just behind the
water inlet. The two "O" rings in it, mainly the lower one, stretch and need to be replaced.
