A nice little video overview of the Oodnadatta Track

This short filmclip was just loaded to one of my Vimeo Groups. It gives fantastic appreciation of the Oodnadatta Track and some of the many attractions along the way. George has done a great job on it. I really enjoy it when somebody spends the time to makes these things and share them. He has also dedicated it to Adam Plate late of the Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta. Enjoy...

G'day Mick!

Thanks for sharing a fantastic video. Thanks also to George for taking the time to put it together.

These are the little gems that I show the 'Nagivator' to keep her on track with our preparations for our lap in early 2014.

George - A wonderful tribute to Adam.

Cheers

Anthony

Errrr.... Mick.

Where's the link?? Maybe it's browser dependent as some can obviously see it, others can't. On my screen I see three lines of text, then 10 cm of nothing followed by your signature.

Cheers

A very good clip, it shows what the track is curently like, sadly we were at the road house the day Adam lost his life in the Targa Adelaide race, a very sad affair, he was an icon in the area.

Thanks for posting that Mick. Well produced and really nice photography.

Certainly Adam Plate proposed the name of the Oodnadatta Track in 1980 and it has stuck and become official. This occurred at the same time as the opening of the Stuart Highway, the new alternative road to Alice Springs. Before that the route to the Alice was via Marree and Oodnadatta and was, from memory, known overall as the Alice Springs Road even though it was much more of a "track" than a "road".

Cheers

Thank you Mick,
A good tribute to Adam. Well done George.
We heard Lynne wanted to sell.
Not that we could buy.
How is Lyn now? A very sad Christmas for her this year.
Take care, safe travels Ma.

No worries George. It was well worth sharing. Having seen your efforts I now realise I really do need some lessons lol.

Will look forward to some more of your offerings in the future. Do you mind if I ask what editing program you are using?

Cheers Mick

Hi Mick,
I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 Premium and Magix Music Maker 2013 Premium. I have a few other Magix programs.

I am working on the full length versions of the Oodnadatta, Birdsville and Strzelecki Tracks.

Next short clip is 'Outback Christmas 2012' - a collage of video images of the far north of South Australia with an ambient soundtrack arrangement of Silent Night.
It will be on my blogs, facebook page and Vimeo very soon.

Free to download at Vimeo.

Cheers George

We met Adam in early August just before his departure. I enjoyed the video and of course the iconic drive along the track. We enjoyed the whole drive from Marree through Oodnadatta and up to Lamberts Center. So much so that we did this (click here) this to our kitchen glass splashback with the photo below. Taken north of Oodnadatta at Hamilton Station. Geo: S 26 41' 52" E 135 04' 44".

Phil,
I love that! What a get idea. I unfortunately never met Adam. His passing is a great loss to the outback traveller.

It was only brief as the place was jumping. But we took note of his wealth of local knowledge.
