Hi all,
has anyone crossed the Murray at the
Tom Groggin Ford in the last few days? Thinking of going that way tomorrow or Friday (21.12.12).
Thanks
Bowks

I've read that you have to check that crossing on an hourly basis it can change that much in a really short period of time. I'll be doing it on Boxing Day so very interested in the replies as
well. Cheers.

I cannot answer you question directly but given the amount of rain over the past month I would think it would be OK - but unless you watch someone drive through first make sure you walk it.
I was there this time last year and crossed it driving around on the rapids and had no issues - however a couple of people drowned their vehicles between the time I drove across and came back a couple of hours later. They entered the
water and didn't check it out and took the shortest route across and ended up in about 5ft of
water. The rapids were only about 12".

The direct route and the deep
water was to the right of the pics.

Make sure you drive an arc down stream from either entry point.
As said above straight across via the shortest route can be trouble.

Hi Bowks, probably too late for you to view this before your crossing. The Murray Darling Basin Authority has live river data and also stats for the last year. The nearest site to the
Tom Groggin crossing is Biggara about 20km downstream. IMO the level at Groggin will be less than Biggara as the Groggin crossing is quite wide. Up to the 1m level at Biggara I would subtract 20cm for Tom G. The You Tube video on the 8/11 had the
water at 1.4m at Biggara but it only looks a bit over 1 metre. Link to MDBA here:
