200 series key problem

The car detects the electronic fob which prevents you from locking your keys in the car. The electronic fob holds an emergency key to use when the electronic fob battery goes flat. Just remove the emergency key from the fob in your spare set and place that on the vehicle this will not prevent the car from locking but will give you or anyone else who has it access to your vehicle.

Try wrapping the key in several layers of aluminium foil and place it in a small metal box. That may attenuate the wireless transmission to and from the key.

Just remove the battery from the fob and store them separately.

Can't you simply use a plain key to open the door?

If the vehicle is stolen there is no insurance, spare keys cannot be stored in or on the vehicle be careful.

I had similar issues with a new prado.
If they are the same, you can remove the key from the fob, store the key underneath somewhere and put the fob in the car. You then must use the lock/unlock buttons on the other fob to lock and unlock your car. You won't be able to lock it by using the magic buttons on the doors as they won't let you lock a fob in the car.
