Landrover gearbox

The gearbox on my defender packed up last month.As if that was not bad enough i now have strange noise from the turbo.All this after 85000km.The question is is this unusual for Landrovers?
Do i have a lemon?
Anyone out here had a similar problem?
I never had any dramas with axles dough.

Craig my Defender gerbox gave up on me on 65000km.and left me stranded near Telfer WA last year.I gave up on the Landrovers since than. Landrover replaced the gearbox and their customer support is second to none.
If you going to by Landrover you will need it i reckon.

craig second gear collapsed in my 95 disco tdi, althoubh it was out of warrenty landrover replaced the gearbox free of charge,apparently it is common enough and a known fault for l/r to fix it at no cost,maybe i was just lucky.also had transfer case repaired 5 times under warrenty
