In mid January we have to head to
Batlow near
Tumbarumba.
What is the road like from
Omeo through Benambra to Corryong, or would it be better to go through
Mitta Mitta to the Murray Valley Highway?
We are going up for a magazine photo shoot so would like to arrive reasonably clean!

Hi Shaker
From
Omeo to Benambra and a little further north is sealed, then it's unsealed to Nariel.
shorter in distance than via
Mitta Mitta and a bit rough in
places.
Depending what you are towing you may be better off going via
Mitta Mitta, although longer both in time and distance
If you are towing a standard type van the
Omeo to Corryong route may be a little rough for you.
Both roads are not particularly wide and have the odd truck on them ,best to have your UHF on C40.
Both have good spots for staying over if need be.
Chers
Ed

I've been through there recently (2 months) with a 120 Prado and a
Kimberley Karavan behind. It's windy, but a piece of cake in my opinion. But a lovely drive,
well worth the effort.
A number of great campsites on the road or nearby on side roads/tracks.
You will get dusty though.
Cheers

Hi,
We travelled through Benambra a couple of years ago with a 200 towing a Vista RV Crossover, and agree with above a piece of cake. Not as winding as the Mitta Valley.

Hullo Shaker
The northern end of the road (from Sassafras Gap north) has had quite a bit of work done on it in the past few years as it is a key logging road - generally good surface and widened.
As to the southern section, it is a little narrower north of the
Gibbo River bridge, with steeper sections approaching Sassafras Gap.
And as stated above, some good
camping spots along the section south of
Gibbo River bridge
All OK for the rig you describe
Cheers
Andrew
