I can tell you that my dog nearly died from a paralysis tick picked up in that area earlier this month!

I can second paralysis tick problem , wife and I found 3 on ourselves after walking in scrubby area at Gillards. Any itching needs checking ASAP , and the little blighters go for the tenderest spots .

I must have missed the alert. Is it too late to lock the borders?

Can we find a way to change its name? Nobody is ever going to believe anything that anybody says about it so long as it has that name.

Troopy,
It's a great spot, though a long time since we've been there so I can't comment on your chances of finding space. Anywhere within sight of the ocean is likely to be pretty busy though. Worth ringing the Ulludulla office ( 02 4454 9500 ) for the
ranger's comment. I think that office probably handles Gillards Beach.
Ticks are a problem anywhere on the coast. I doubt that they are any worse at Gillards than elsewhere.
Cheers
John

Gillards is a great spot,
camp there regularly with our kids and friends. We're on the doorstep of these parks on the south coast and Gillards is great, no ticks as yet. Cheers Scott
