hi, merry Christmas to all
might be interesting for some, who want to run an air conditioners on a generator.
"even thou I don't like generators and there noise, and some, who don't give a sh..t about others"
I was looking for an air con, that starts on our standard small 1000W generator.
It appears in AUS only the stronger Truma Saphir Comfort is on offer.
Saphir Comfort start current 20A, normal current 4.2A W=VxI 240Vx4.2A= 1008W
Saphir Compact start current 15A, normal current 2.8A(55A on 12V) = 627W
I was little concerned about the 15A start current, tested it on a friends Honda EU10i, and to our surprise, the Honda not even left it's idle speed.
"please consider, this is not a
test for you to rely on, and make a decision in ordering a Saphir Compact model overseas, I haven't tried the combination on a long term, but I can say, it started, run in all modes and cooled the air for a few minutes"
How did I got one?
I found some online camping dealers in Germany, the first one, which delivers world wide I picked. For export they can sell tax free, you safe 19% GST.
On top, its close to the allowed import value for AUS, so you might be lucky, getting it tax free, as I did.
Saphir Compact's are to be found on ebay.de as
well, most dealers should speak English, but not all deliver world wide.
I payed 966 EUR, shipping was 136 EUR, quick and
well packed. I asked Truma if that device can be shipped, they said, better not, but they probably stay on the safe side. There was not even a problem getting it over, in a plane, as a pressurized gas system.
cheers
Chris
