I agree with the comments of scribla. The Hema HN6 meets all of my needs 100% except for the window attachment. I contacted Hema about this and sought a recommendation on a suitable RAM mount to ensure that the unit did not continue to fall of when on bitumen roads but did not get a satisfactory reply. I believe that Hema have used the same window mount from the HN5 but with the extra weight of the larger screen just does not cut it. The search continues.
In the near future I will will be attempting to scan some ink maps (produced by CSBP) of some farm and pastoral properties that I regularly visit and callibrate them and use with Oziexplorer. If anyone else has adapted a RAM window mount to suit the HN6 cradle I would like to hear from you.

Hi Johno
You must be doing something wrong. There was a test a number of year ago on the various units on the market, and the Hema had the most stable and strongest mounts on the market, being capable of holding many kilograms of weight before breaking.
As for the extra weight between the HN5 and the new HN6, you would only be talking grams, so no big deal on the ability of the standard mount.
I have given ours many good tests on real bush tracks, including the
Anne Beadell Highway and the unit was as stable as anything, and to come off on bitumen roads there must be something going very wrong somewhere or you could have a faulty mount.
For the record, yes I do own a HN6 as
well as a HN5.
I am not looking for a muck fight, but the Hema mount would be one of the best out of the box supplied mounts available.
Just my thoughts
Stephen

Johnno,
My Hema 6 fell off when new too.
I had a good look at the plastic suction cup and it seemed to have a fine coat of "vinyl sweat" (that's the best way I can describe it).
I washed it thoroughly with soap and a sponge (nothing abrasive) and I could actually see the difference. It hasn't fallen off since.
cheers
