The above app was started to a replacement for the Bitmap app which I have been using for sometime. Bitmap took some getting going and has been working well. However, I have now downloaded Maps n Trax but for the life of me I just cannot get maps into this new app which display correctly. It seems so complicated to get my Aussie wide raster maps into it.

Has anyone started using this new app? Looks like I will need to spend some money & buy an app which includes all the topo maps.

Without wanting to sound like a stuck record I see need never ending numbers of posts like this on numerous forums.
Best answer is to sell your apple to a brand conscience 13 yo and buy an android device that might as well be built for off road mapping. Inc the very very basics like a micro sd card slot

Thanks for the one-sided comments. It's not what I asked!
FYI - I am an avid Windows fan rather than Apple. But for tablets I just love the iPad. Am on my 2nd one at present & it does everything that I need. It does have apps for off road mapping that I use - I only asked the question because it is an app that you need to calibrate your own maps that I was experimenting with.
Also I am very familiar with the android system - have an android smartphone - I'd vote for the apple system anytime for a mobile system.

Sorry. I thought I read in your post about apps taking a while to get going and others your having pproblems using. Like I said I've seen many posts from Apple users trying to get them to do off-road mapping. Never one from an android user.... not one
I recently got onto a bushwalk site and downloaded over 50 maps and tracks and waypointswhich can work on my phone for bushwslks in the Perth region all stored on the micro sd
You just can't get that level of user simplicity on an apple.
I'm no fanboy but the number of posts has to prove apple is a remote distant second when it comes to ease of use for mapping

As someone that has come from the music and internet industry I think a big issue is that Apple try to block apps that bypass their billing system for data that competes with things that they sell, ie maps or music etc.
As a result, products and data either cost more or do tricks to get around this rule. Eventually programs change or morph into something other than what the original intent was, to avoid 35% apple tax but eventually apple catch up. No freebies then, and users who base their environment around these apps are screwed. True story. That's why I like android.

Oops, I forgot to mention that of course you can "jail break" an apple device to get around this but then you end up with something that makes android or even Windows 98 look positively reliable.

The amount of maps I run on my phone would exceeded he storage of an I trendy unless of course you forked out mega $$$$$ for the top of the wozza itrendy which would still leave it 15 gig short of the storage capacity of my base android model

LOL get outmore, yep I just upgraded my Galaxy note 2 by 64Gb, cost me all of $52. Beats having to buy a completely new phone just to get a memory upgrade.

Hello

I am not familiar with this program whatsoever but because I have a gps/map fetish had a look at the website and spotted this statement in the Important Notes section....

"Maps n Trax works with the Spherical Mercator projection and will warp (reproject) other maps into this projection where possible during import. Maps in other projections will be less accurate for location or navigation purposes if not warped. It is recommended to warp maps into Spherical Mercator projection on the desktop before import to Maps n Trax (see user guide)"

So ...just wondering have you gone through the process of "warping" maps? Could this be why you think they don't "display correctly" i.e. during warping, text and other features on a raster map may appear slightly distorted (stretched/squashed) in some areas...or are you importing without warping, hence problems?

Assume you have followed introductions in the user guide (haven't read it myself so no idea what it says)

Are the maps still accurate in the respect that your position plots in the correct location?

What raster maps are you trying to import (Hema?) and what is the original projection?

Cheers
Greg

PS: I found this disclaimer funny:

"Do not use Maps n Trax while operating a vehicle on land, on water, in the air, underground, underwater, in space or anywhere else"

Will keep that in mind next time I'm in.... space...:)

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Hi All,
I love being outdoors and do things like camping,4wding. But internet connectivity plays a drastic role to discover new campsites, parks when you are already hitting the roads. Anyone of you using some kind of iPhone app to do this?
Well, i heard about a community based new free iPhone app "Campee" from campee.com through one of my friend who's already using it. It is having user interactive database of awesome campsites and caravan parks.
Did anyone of you use it till now?

Cheers!!
