Hi all,
Due to rego reasons I am looking at replacing some tyres on the Prado.
Have been given a couple of options by two Tyres shops.
Toyo Opat
Yokohama GO31
Symex Road Trekker
Or trying to get the std goodyears that came as originals on the Prado.
I am going to use the Prado as a tow rig for a trip around oz next year (towing a 17 foot pop top van) with a bit of off road use (but very basic stuff not considering going to extreme).
Any suggestions / recommendations based on the above list and future usage?
Many Thanks.

Original tyres were
Dunlop Grandtreks 265/70R16 (LI= 112).
Read the Prado 90 series tyre FAQ:
http://www.lcool.org/technical/90_series/tyres/tyres.html
Many recommend upsizing to 265/75 but if you're towing, then you don't want to change your gearing. I'd stick to the standard size, but get an AT tyre.
BFG ATKO in 265/70R16 are about the only tyre in this size that have a LT (light truck) construction. If you want a stronger tyre with the same diameter, then go for the 245/75R16 - most of these have a higher load index of 120 (10-ply in the old scale)
