I over heard two experienced Simpson Desert tour/trek organising type chaps talking about and sounding like they knew their subject well enough to impress me but after a few wines etc cant recall much of what was said. Apparently a Toyota Landcruiser GX model that dealers referred to as a type specifically ordered by us old Grey Haired (albiet now Bald) Tourists. Apparently its a GX model V8 single turbo diesel. Thinking of updating soon so want more info on specifications etc. Cause it sounded like it was for me. Apparently some of the options from other models are included to make it more comfortable and better handling etc.. More info required? Or is this an Urban myth??

Regards Mick

I didnt expect to find it there as the vehicle was a bastardisation of a GX and bits and pieces from a GXL and other non standard specs.

Hi

Yeah ..they were probably just talking about a GX. No doubt you could add stuff to them to improve them but that would just be your choice at point of sale (e.g air conditioner would be nice) or any one of the many aftermarket mobs (e.g bigger fuel tank). I doubt anyone is selling them as some sort of specific "retiree" package..just Toyota with whatever added extras are available and what you happen to want..

Comparison of GX and GXL HERE

Cheers

....good stuff, specs suggest otherwise but maybe its just all the added aircon features that are lacking on the GX such as "climate control" & "Rear air outlet" etc..

Cheers

Yes Greg you are correct, the GX only has front air, looses the third row seats and keyless start and has a 38l sub tank. will be a Good value unit when demand settles a little and you can get a "deal" ATM it seems the "real" price is not far behind a GXL which offers much more fruit.

The 70 series V8 D4D Landcruisers are single turbo and the 200 series V8 D4D Landcruisers are all twin turbo...... lot of "grey haired" are buying the 200 series GX over the other 3 models.

There is plenty on the LCOOL (Land Cruiser Owners on Line) web site about the GX model.
