They work great. Just plug into the OBD2 port on the car and set it up. Note can only display functions that the car's systems actually monitors behind the scene.
Also have a basic code reading and clearance function.

I've had a
Scangauge II installed in my Nissan Navara D40 since 2008. They will monitor everything that your ECU is monitoring and I believe (but can't be sure) that the latest version of firmware also allows it to monitor the transmission and other sensors. You can also program extra gauges referred to as X-Gauge into the instrument....but I haven't figured this out yet.

They are good, but go to this link,
Compatible Vehicles
and
check to see if your vehicle is on the Compatible List.

If your vehicle isn't on the list try EUScanTalk, it is a modified version of the scan guage

I fitted one to my Ford
Ranger Auto before we went on our last trip across from
Perth area to
Crystal Brook ( UWE ) and then up to "The Alice" down to
York Pens and back
home to
Pinjarra .
In all that time I kept an eye on the Trans Temp as
well as the eng temp , Ltrs/100, ltrs now, and it certainly monitored my driving habits.
I found that by not using drive - OD Off- till I got up to cruising speed ( 90- 95 Kph ) the trans ran cooler and I got more economy as
well.
It helped to use the OD off button like a 2 speed diff
Since then I have changed the van for one that is just on the Rangers limits ( 2450 Kg ) and the scangauge has been a boon as I can monitor all the ECU and see if the trans is over heating ( or even getting hotter than it should ) in relation to the eng running temp.
I also have linked in a Volo CPU "flasher" that subtly changes the eng parameters and delivers that little more power without ''over straining" the motor or trans shift patterns.

It may
well be an urban myth, but I read somewhere that there is an IPhone app available that works through the ICU port that does the same thing, but did not notice if it was through a cable connection or magic like WiFi. This was reported to be a less expensive option if you had an IPad or IPhone.
Cheers.

There are apps that do the same as Scangauge but you need to buy the OBD2 interface to allow the app to talk to the car's ECU.
