Do you have any Caravan or 4WD Shows coming up?

That's usually when you will get some sort of a deal.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

Engle took Annaconda's rights away because they kept deiscounting the fridges. You may have to look harder now.

It is no longer a 2 horse race. There are some other good brands reasonably priced now. I know you didn't ask this but Primus appear to do a good, well priced range.

Hi Tony

I do not know the facts, but I can assure you it would have nothing to do with discounting. Engel, like all companies set a RR, but what the end retailer sell them for is of no concern to Engel.

That is what makes me laugh, the big players in the camping market do have specials every now and then, but generally sell them for full retail.

Smaller stores on the other hand offer better pricing all the time, I know, as we sell them.

For an example, every time I have been to a Rays, Annaconda and the like, you will see the MT45 (the usual 40 litre platinum fridge) selling the fridge only for $1299 for the bare fridge only. Our store on the other hand sells the very same fridge, including the genuine Engel matching Transit Bag that has a RR for $190 for an all up price of $1249.00 including GST........

I deal with Engel and I can assure you that they do not care what a retailer sells their products for, as they are still selling the product and it is the retailer that is either making full profit or only a very small mark up and a constant turn over.

Cheers

I am no expert, but I am pretty certain it is against the law for a manufacturer to dictate how much the sellers of their goods can price those goods at. See Anti Competitive tabhttp://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/816378

Anaconda can sell the fridges at whatever price they want. If Anaconda are refusing to discount items because they will lose supply, then they are also breaking the law. It may fall under a Cartel Agreement.

Have you ever asked for a discount on any apple product at any store?

The ACCC are completely useless. They even believe it is market forces that make the petrol price go up and down at the some time and at easter.

I bought the ARB 60 Litre with cover back in Feb last year for $1200 at a show... Highly recommend them.

I guess all the good ones use the same "engine".
