Has anyone taken this route towards
Omeo recently?
We will be driving a Nissan Patrol with O.R camper trailer. Just want to know degree of difficulty, incl.
river crossing
Thanks
Noels

How are you planning to cross the
Murray River? If at
Tom Groggin, then your only real option is to drive across the river. Just make sure the river levels are OK, and you know your curved line to drive across.
Weather is the big issue. If it is dry, then you will probably not have too many issues, but a good shower of rain can change all that.
Personally, I would leave the trailer at
home, so you can enjoy the trip, and not have to worry about the weather.

Depends which way you go. Up over Davies Plain is okay, but not if there's been any rain and there are a few steep pinches, don't try and tow anything up Mt Pinnibar, and the trip around the back of Mt Anderson via
Tom Groggin Tk is easy.

I did Davies Plain, McCarthys and
Limestone Creek tracks from
Tom Groggin to Benambra a few weeks back. There are some very steep sections that would be extremely difficult if wet, doubly so dragging a trailer because the track in that section is clay based so it would be a slip fest. The other problem if wet would be the water depth and speed in the creek crossings. It's tame enough when it's dry even though Parks Victoria rate it very difficult.
