Today we had another 4WD day with creek crossing to gt to Umbrawarra Gorge Nature Park a striking gorge with sharp red cliffs and sandstone overhangs. A walking track winds alongside the creek to a large pool with sandy banks. The rest of the gorge can only be reached by rock hopping which we did.

The Large-billed Gerygone purposefully builds its nest to look exactly like flood debris (clumps of dead grass, leaves, and twigs washed up and left behind on branches after a river rises). By mimicking random river rubbish, the birds cleverly hide their home from predators like crows, goannas, and cuckoos.

The picture doesn't do this gorgeous place credit. The creek was full of fallen wattle just beautiful.
