Day 57 Whale Watching

Today we were up early enough to see sunrise. We then washed the car as all the 4wd and dust caused our back door not to operate properly and with the cargo barrier we couldn't get to the luggage. So now we have a shiny car again, we know that won't last for long.



We then drove to Main Beach and saw the Nine Zeros, Nine Stories a collaboration between two artists, Perth based Paula Hart and Broome local Chris Maher that aims to reveal and enhance the history & curiosity of the many perspectives of the Broome Air Raid story. In the past, War memorials have tended to hero the leaders or remember the deceased. However, this approach often misses the multifaceted human stories behind these episodes. Chris spoke with a broad cross section of the community to learn and appreciate the tangle of human stories behind the event. Incredible stories of bravery, camaraderie and bereavement, with a true sense of the Broome experience.








We had lunch and then came home to be collected by our tour company to go on a Broome whale watching cruise. We spent the afternoon watching the majestic Humpback whales as they migrate their way along the Kimberley coast. Humpback whales migrate from the cold southern waters of the Antarctic to the warm northern waters of the Kimberley region every year to calve.

When we arrived the beach was like a carpark.
