Day 88 Lake Cave

Today we went on the early tour of the Lake Cave, which takes you into a pristine chamber beneath the Boranup karri forest deep in the Margaret River Region, you begin with a walk down a spectacular sinkhole, known as a doline, before continuing into the cave chamber. There is a rare ‘suspended table’ formation, a one-of-a-kind structure that hovers above a reflective lake. This cave is the South West’s most active ‘dripping’ cave, where droplets fall from delicate stalactites, creating ripples in the lake.













We then drove to Gracetown on the coast, which was a small village.







We then drove to Cowaramup affectionately known as "Cow Town," the name actually comes from the local Indigenous Nyoongar word Cowara, which means the purple-crowned lorikeet, and browsed the shops. St Mary's Anglican Church in Cowaramup is a rare surviving Group Settlement-era timber-framed church built in 1929.

We then drove to Margaret River for some lunch. Margaret River has over 200 world class vineyards producing premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, including famous names like Vasse Felix. Stunning Beaches and Surf and coastal spots like the Injidup Natural Spa. Margaret River is home to over 100 ancient limestone caves with 6 open to the public.
