Arrived in Nyngan abt 13.30.

It’s an easy run from Dunedoo via Dubbo to Nyngan. It’s flat & while it’s only 1 lane each way, the lanes are wide enough to give everyone room to safely travel.

Lots of dead Roos on the road & beside it. Very green as well. The locals must have had some rain over the past few months.

This area is a big cotton growing area. The side of the road has lots of fluffy cotton balls that have gotten away.

I had a minor 10 seconds of concern along the way. I was using the petrol sub tank to supply the engine. As we were abt 15 km out of Nyngan, I felt car suddenly loose power. I had a quick scan for any error lights but nothing there. I checked the fuel gauge and it was bouncing off empty! Talking with Kitty, I’d lost track of where I was at with the fuel level. Realising what the problem was I quickly switched over to the main tank and the engine picked up power & we were all good again.

That’s the 1st time I’ve ever done that ??. On a positive note, when I filled up the reserve tank in Nyngan,it took exactly 45 L. That gave me the chance to accurately calculate my fuel consumption.. on this segment from Dunedoo to Nyngan, I got 18.75 L / 100 km. For a petrol V8 towing our van that’s pretty good fuel economy. On our last big trip to WA, there were a few sections where I was using 30l / 100 km. That was at 90 km/ hr & a 20 - 30k headwind. This head wind later turned into a dust storm.

We’re going to go for a wander into Nyngan this afternoon. The menu at the RSL has Thursday night as being the snitty special, so that’s looking promising.
