Dear ExplorOz Reader,

Recent site improvements and new features have brought about a further surge in site traffic on ExplorOz.com with our forecasted March figures expected to come in at 600,000 sessions for the month - almost doubling our monthly site traffic. We've got a lot of new things still to come this year to tantalise you, and will continue to use our e-Newsletter to officially launch these so watch this space!
New 'Places' Database
Places is the new ExplorOz central storehouse of all physical locations that have a known waypoint.

With over 74,000 Places in this database assigned as one (or more) of 39 Point of Interest categories, there is a lot of useful content here! Unlike other Place Name databases available on the net, ExplorOz "Places" is fully geo-referenced. Additionally, within each Trek Note, any waypoint that is listed will cross-link to the Places database which will show additional information for that location including up to 5 photos, and a detailed text description. For an example of how this works, see the Canning Stock Route waypoint list .

Places will also become an interactive site area enabling you to enter text and upload photos of Places you have been.

News from Jackie @ The Shop Being part of the ExplorOz Team now for 8 months I thought I should introduce myself and make mention that I am now more involved with our Adventure Shop since taking over Juliana's role. Firstly, I would like you to know that our customers are important to us and your feedback and help is always appreciated. In particular if there is a product you are looking for and we don't appear to have it on the site please let me know and I will try to locate it for you. Can't make any promises but I will certainly try!!!

Over the next few weeks I have been given the opportunity to offer some discounts on selected shop items including maps, books and CD's. Please note this offer is only for a limited time with limited stock. So it is on a "first to buy" basis. Products will vary so keep looking! To find out what's on special just click on the button.

Birdsville Studio
Advertising Feature

An art exhibition in Sydney called "The Places I Go" by Birdsville artist Wolfgang John will open in just 3 weeks time at the Washhouse Gallery, 711 Darling St, Roselle.

The exhibition will be opened by Birdsville-based cattleman David Brook OAM at 6pm on 31st March and Wolfgang would love to see you there!

The exhibition runs from 31st March - April 16 even if you can't make the opening, make a point of going during those dates and you won't be disappointed.

Expect to see Wolfgang's vibrant watercolours of the Simpson Desert along with paintings of the Snowy Mountains - 2 wild and contrasting places that have touched his imagination immensely over time.

"The Places I go" is all about Wolfgang's favourite Australian landscapes.

Wolfgang John has a gallery and studio in Birdsville, Qld and his work can be viewed on his website.
