Finding Wildflowers in WA

Western Australia with its sandy soils may seem an unlikely place for wildflowers to prosper, however, this state is world renowned for being the Wildflower State. Around 12,000 wildflower species have been found throughout WA, with the south-western corner of the state notable for having more species of flowering plants than almost anywhere else in the world.

This article gives you an extensive list of many various species of wildflowers and the regions where they are most prolific. The wildflower season lasts for five months and flowers may begin to bloom from July in the warmer parts of the state through to November in the south. What a better time to start looking.

Wannago Tag Along Tours
Historic Pubs of Queensland
14 Days – Departs 22nd April 2007

Follow the old Cobb & Co routes with John and Mike, whilst stopping at some of Australia's most iconic pubs along the way. This tour takes travels through the outback to some of the oldest licensed premises in Queensland such as Nindigully, Hungerford, Eulo Innamincka, Birdsville Middleton Hotel and many others. The trip is mostly along good dirt roads but we do duck out to Big Red whilst in Birdsville and some trickier areas of 4wding through the Diamantina Lakes.

This trip is fully catered, most nights we dine at the hotels - breakfast, morning tea and lunch is also provided. Off road camper trailers can be taken on this trip. Accommodation will be at the pubs’ camp sites or National Parks, so anything from throwing your swag down on the pubs verandah to pulling up a camper trailer is welcome. The fully inclusive cost is $115 per day.
