For the last 4 weeks, the ExplorOz Team have been away from the office doing
what we love to do - remote area travelling, but now ...WE'RE BACK! We've been on an incredible journey, which included the Anne Beadell Hwy
and a double crossing of the Simpson Desert. Our "second home" is
Birdsville so we spent 10 days wallowing in this special place before
tracking back west over the desert and along the original section of
Gunbarrel Hwy now called the Mulga Park - Giles Rd, through the
Pitjantjatjara Aboriginal lands taking in Surveyor Generals Corner. A total
of 7046.5km. We have lots of tales, reviews, advice, trek updates and new trek notes
to add to the site as a result of this trip plus we have formulated various
new ideas for improvement on the site. As an experiment we decided to run this entire trip without paper-based
maps, relying solely on our GPS for navigation. Using OziExplorer we created
route files and uploaded them to the GPS - and it was all just too
