Edition 458: 9th December, 2016

Hi ExplorOz Reader,

You might not believe it but some schools are already done for the year, so get ready for crowded camp sites and busy roads. It's officially the holiday season. For most, it will be a good time to catch up with family, take a short break from work and hopefully fit in some good Aussie outdoor summer fun. But even as we start to round out the year, we still have loads of things going on to keep you informed and entertained.

If you only buy 1 thing this Christmas, make sure you get at least one (1) of our ExplorOz Calendars for 2017 for your home and why not buy a few as gifts.

This is a unique calendar featuring images submitted by members of the ExplorOz community. The calendar showcases spectacular scenes across Australia that you'd only find on an adventurous journey away from Australia's mainstream tourist icons. These images might light the spark to plan your next adventure, or you could give as a gift to someone who might like to be similarly inspired. This would also be a thoughtful gift for a person who has previously enjoyed exploring outback Australia but is now unlikely to get back there.

Every purchase helps ExplorOz operations, so please support us this year by buying our calendar.

For other Christmas ideas, or to grab a bargain don't miss out on the ExplorOz Shop Clearance Sale. Almost all our stock is being run-out so take a look at what's on offer.

18 new items have been added this week to the sale - for more information see Adele's blog featuring the latest items on sale.

In looking for ways to add value to our Membership offering, we've strived to encourage businesses in the camping, caravanning and 4wd industry to join with us to provide you with discounts, deals, and rewards. One company has stood out in that regard - Redarc Electronics, who has not only been with us since we first started in the year 2000, but for the second year running is the major sponsor of the ExplorOz Membership Program.

Every 3 months, Redarc provides us with the ability to run a product giveaway for our Members. Prizes include Redarc electronic voltage converters and associated products, inverters, power supplies, battery chargers, brake controllers and trailer braking products.

The current competition period runs 1st December 2016 - 28th February 2017. The current promotion is for a new generation Redarc BCDC in-vehicle dual battery charger worth $660, details of which are included further in this newsletter.

To be in the draw all you have to do is pay for your membership subscription (or extend your current subscription by 12months) during this period. Lifetime Members are automatically in each prize draw.

Trusted for its Australian design and tested for our unique conditions, the next generation 25 amp model in-vehicle battery charger, the BCDC1225D, has extras that make it the most advanced product on the market: Solar input built-in, charges from solar and the alternator simultaneously with Green Power Priority, works with all standard and variable voltage alternator types and charges all major lead acid batteries and now includes a lithium charging profile. All this from a dual battery charger that is designed and tested to keep batteries fully charged…no bull.

Anyone interested in the future of camping along the Ningaloo coastline would be interested to know that the pastoralists who have been managing camping at Ningaloo Station are still fighting the DoPAW, who wish to take over management of the camping, with significant changes to the access and facilities including sizeable development.

Ningaloo Station would like to gather feedback on the proposed options being considered for camping management and development and have created the following survey:-

Please complete the mentioned survey sent by Ningaloo station to assist us in retaining our station and "Wilderness camping". All family members/friends/past and present campers are able to complete this survey using the same or any other computer. We ask each and every family member/camper/friend and supporters of Ningaloo station complete the survey being assured your name and email address will NOT be distributed to any third party.
