New Len Beadell Products

A lifetime in the Bush: Biography of Len Beadell

Len Beadell can lay claim to being the last of the great explorers of Australia: in the 1950's and 60's he undertook solo surveys which led to the building of many of the roads travelled today only by 4WD vehicles in the most remote areas of Australia's outback. But Len was more than just a surveyor - he was an author, cartoonist, raconteur and, above all, a great family man. A great story about a great man - a great gift that will be appreciated by anyone who loves remote Australia.

Too Long in the Bush - Video Part 2

This video is a sequel to 'Too Long in the Bush - Part 1' which we've had on the shop for a long time now. The reason we didn't initially stock Part 2 was because it was compiled after Len's death but due to popular demand we have now taken this into our regular stock. So to all those that have dying for us to get it in - get your orders in now!

Expeditions of our Outback Explorers

The Beckoning West: The story of H.S. Trotman and the Canning Stock Route.

Author Elanor Smith researched this book by spending many days by the campfire listening to Trotmans stories. She has enabled Trotman to tell his story of 5 expeditions on the CSR. A must-read for any CSR traveller, especially since the other well-known CSR guide book to the history of the Canning by the Gard's is still currently out of print.

The Calvert Scientific Exploring Expedition 1896-7

This is a must-read for a Canning Stock Route or Calvert Ranges trip. This is Calvert's personal journal and is not only of historical interest but will guide you to find some amazing things in the Calvert Ranges that are not documented anywhere else.

Australia Twice Traversed - Ernest Giles

Actually written by Giles himself, this book is a narrative record of his historic expeditions to cross Australia from east to west in the late 1800s.

Coopers Creek

This is the classic account of the Burke and Wills expedition across Australia by author Alan Moorehead. A must-read for anyone travelling to Innamincka where this story ends in tragedy.

Natural History and Human Endeavour

The Simpson Desert

Containing straight-forward, comprehensive information, maps and photographs, this book is a must for anyone who has, or is intending to travel the Simpson Desert written by the Simpson expert himself, Mark Shepherd.

Kidman - the Forgotten King

This is the biography of legendary Sidney Kidman. This book explores the fascinating Kidman facts and fictions, and gives a balanced, thoroughly entertaining account of this larger-than-life Australian and his exceptional achievements.
