Whilst the vehicular crossing is rarely taken these days, as it is treacherous and many have lost their vehicles in the strong currents, it is worth making the effort to come down to the river banks to view the crossing. The area is quite lovely with low wide banks but beware crocs may inhabit these parts so don't stay too long.
