Rocket tank is a large
dam on
Sturt Creek Station on the southern edge of the
Denison Plains. It s only nine kilometres west of the Cow Creek, a tributary of the
Sturt Creek. This is an area rich in history of the early exploration of the country. The area has been visited by the likes of
Warburton,
Carnegie, Maurice and Hann to name but a few. The area is now part of the remaining Kidman cattle empire. It is a huge man made tank with associated
bore and pumps. It is
well fenced and grazed by the large mobs of cattle on the station. We passed this way on the 2013
Carnegie retracing expedition, July/August 2013.
