Camp area to the right when travelling east to west a few hundred metres off the road. Turn immediately before border sign. There are no facilities but area is level enough and room for a few travellers. Heard from others later on there is space to
camp a bit further into the bush from this spot but unconfirmed.
The road deteriorated on the WA side due to corrugations and washouts across the road at low spots, often with limited viewing or warning. Speed on the WA side at about 80/90kmh, except for curves, ironed out the corrugations. The NT side was very good and able to travel at reasonably high speeds. An indication is we left the Stuart Highway at 0800 and got to
the Granites at 1400 with a look around Tilmouth and morning tea and usual stops.
Travel in June 2013 had road on WA side better. Mining trucks cause bigger corrugations east of
The Granites. Overall not one of the most scenic drives in Oz.
