In this section of the Western Arthurs Traverse, the trail often stays on the very edge of
the ridge, with steep drop-offs into the glacial cirques on either side. The thick mist and low cloud shown in the photo are the most common conditions for this range. It’s a classic example of why this trek is considered one of Australia's most dangerous; visibility can drop to zero in minutes, making navigation between these rock towers very difficult. This is typically Day 2 or 3 of the traverse. The path consists of loose quartzite scree and solid rock scrambles.
