Parklands Conservation
Park is a popular outdoor
recreation area near the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Nambour, offering a large network of mountain bike
trails,
walking tracks and natural bushland scenery. The
park is
well known for its purpose-built MTB trail system, featuring a mix of flowing singletrack, technical sections, climbs and descents suitable for a range of riding abilities. The
unofficial centre of mountain biking on the Sunshine Coast. Parklands established itself as a gnarly, rocky, testing, series of fireroads in the early days that was frequented by motorbikes, logged and a bit of a dumping ground for lazy sods that couldn’t be bothered using
the tip next door. These days, Parklands is alive and
well and extremely popular. It’s a tough series of tracks that snake and wind through the ups and downs of the 655 hectares of conservation area. It extends from Atkinson Rd West right over to the Bruce Highway towards Yandina. At last count there was approximately 60km of trail.Tracks include Taser, Lush, Ho Chi Ho, New Zealand, Rockadile, Rock’n’Roll, Road Rage,T Track, The
Meadows and Chairlift, to name a few.Set within native forest and
creek-lined gullies, the trail network winds through eucalypt woodland and shaded rainforest pockets, providing a scenic riding experience close to the Sunshine Coast urban area.
Trails are regularly used by local riders, trail runners and walkers. The mountain bike area includes beginner-friendly
routes through to more advanced
trails with berms, rock features and tighter technical sections. Conditions can vary after rain, with some
trails becoming slippery or closed during wet weather.Facilities include
parking areas,
trailhead signage, picnic areas and access tracks. Riders should carry
water, ride within their ability and check local trail conditions before heading out.
