Russell's Gravel Pit - NT

Large gravel pit on southern side of the road. Great view of Kata Tjuta (Olga's) from sand dune. This is a marker on Wikicamps as an overnight camp but has not been verified by ExplorOz as official - ExplorOz Team will be checking it in person in late May and will verify. This location is outside the National Park but within the permit area for travellers using the Great Central Road which states no camping on the NT side of border other than at Docker River. Therefore, camping here is not permitted under the permit.Special Conditions Point 5 on the Permit issued from the Central Land Council states:5. On the road between Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and the Western Australian border via Docker River community, CAMPING IS ONLY PERMITTED AT KALTUKATJARA CAMPGROUND, located about 2 km west of Kaltukatjara (Docker River) Community or 6 km east of the border.
