granite rock shelter with small open-air
amphitheatre, off Gibraltar Road. Described as a beautiful, special, secluded, and happy spot in the Goldfields bush.Used by Indigenous (Wongi) people as a rock shelter. “Yackatoon” means “Happy Place” in the Wongi language.Recent site established in the mid-1970s by the Kalgoorlie Anglican Church and the CEBS (Church of England Boys Society). Usage Over the Years includes christian youth camps, combined church group
camp-outs, Boys Brigade, CEBS weekends and Family
camping trips and outings.
