This is a story about Warrija - Dreaming for the dead It was during the Creation Era when a large number of families from clans in this region were camping in the valley below at Wolladoll, a large round grinding rock in the Gregory Valley on the way to Jasper Gorge. Families were travelling to ceremony in the valley. Large numbers of families were camped together, some camped on their own.Warling had woken up at Wolladoll and was ready to continue the journey. He called to ngarrajananggu - minini, his pet dingo, he kept sleeping. So warling picked up a small flat but sharp-edged rock and cut the dingo's ear. He woke with a loud howl that turned all the people camping into landforms.The people became rock pillars, trees, termite mounds and large groups of campers became the plateaus you can see before you. Warling split mininis ear and changed the world and you can still see the split in his ear today.
