Black Mountain National Park is located 25 kilometres south of Cooktown or four kilometres north of Helenvale An imposing mountain range of massive granite boulders and the traditional country of the Kuku Bididji and Kuku Nyugkul clans of the Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people as well as home to some unique wildlife such as the black tailed monitor. Have a good look around and you will find plants such as the umbrella tree, rose alder, native honey-suckle, molloy red box, Moreton Bay ash, poplar gum and the ghost gum.
