This
rest area is on the highway where the open trees and breakaway meet. Around 700m to the west is
Koora Retreat Centre, which offer a base
camp from which to experience the wilderness and explore desert spirituality on the edge of Boorabbin national Park in WA.
The 24 hour
Rest Area is operated by Main Roads for
driver fatigue management. It is
well sign posted on Great Eastern Highway from the east and the west. It is situated in open eucalyptus woodland with
camp fires, rubbish
bins, two composting
toilets and a black water dump for caravans. The
toilets are maintained by volunteers from nearby
Koora Retreat Centre. The site had old tips at the north of it. These legacy sites have been restored by volunteers from nearby
Koora Retreat Centre and are recovering their health. A load of local mulch has been placed for any visitors to the site to volunteer and spread around the establishing local provenance seedlings. There is no water on site.
