This is an exposed, flat
campground with adequate facilities – two toilets and two picnic shelters. However, if there is water in the lake, it can feel like beach camping. When windy there is minimal shelter behind a low dune. You can safely walk out along the softer, muddy brown coloured crust which squashes beneath your weight the further from shore you go. It may be too soft to reach the edge of the starkest white salt crystals. Depending on water levels in the bay it may be only a few hundred metres to the shoreline of Lake Eyre.
