Situated between wells 16 & 17 on the
Canning Stock Route, Canning built this cairn in 1906 atop the
Durba Hills. The short but sharp climb provides a spectacular vista north along the
Durba hills towards
well 17 and west across the plains. Over the years, those who visit the cairn have added a stone or two probably doubling its size. Look carefully to the west and you will see the
Puntawarri Track leading off across the desert.
