Roughly half-way between
Gladstone and
Bundaberg is the
Baffle Creek Estuary System. Rated as near pristine, it is one of the largest estuarys in Queensland and is fed by numerous saltwater creeks. Bookings are essential. Fishing is the major attraction to the
park and is great all year round. Mangrove Jack are prevalent during the summer months. You can enjoy the Baffle or its tributaries for Barra, Grunter, Bream, Queenies, Trevally, Prawns and Mud Crabs. Try
Rules Beach for Threadfin, Whiting, Bream and Grunter. Fingers Reef area may yield reef species and Mackeral from shore.On calm days offshore rocky reef areas are accessible by small tinny. Some are as near as 2kms from the Baffle Entrance and only a couple of hundred metres from
the beach. The
park has its own internal
boat ramp for boats up to 5m. Most of the estuary is accessible at any tide.Our
park has extra large shady sites.
Camp fires are permitted in designated areas and a
laundromat is open 24 hours. Facilities include: kiosk, large and shady powered sites, cottage, cabin-vans, clubhouse, showers &
toilets, walking track, beautiful nearby beach (no stingers or crocs), pet friendly,
boat ramp,
dump point. Large gas bbqs, with undercover tables and benches.
