This is one my own idea I came up with. (my wife likes bee sting cake and I like dumpling) Some people will note the similarities to golden syrup dumplings.

  • 2 cups water
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
  • 100g butter
  • 1 1/2 cups SR flour
  • ¾ cup milk

  • Step 1 Combine 2 cups (500ml) water, ¾ cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup (60ml) honey and 50g butter in a large saucepan. Stir over a low heat until melted.
  • Step 2Meanwhile, use your fingertips to rub in 50g butter into 11/2 cups SR flour. Combine ¾ cup milk and 1 tablespoon honey. Stir into the flour mixture until well combined.
  • Step 3Bring the sauce to the boil then drop heaped dessert spoonful's of the mixture into the sauce. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered for 15-20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Serve with custard and cream.
