Description

From Avoca went down Vinci’s road and turned right onto number 2 creek road towards governed rock lookout. Went west to east down Fraser’s track which was a really steep descent (low range first gear) with some tricky bits and popped out at the waterfalls campground. In the morning we then went east to west up the old bluff track which was a steep low range climb. Followed the main break up to Jackson track and turned onto clear patch track which joined back onto the main break. Did some of the old king tree track and around the black range track until we came across a padlocked gate towards the end and had to turn around. Took the Dridan track to get onto Spring creek road and popped up out of Glenshee. These were all soft road tracks with maybe the odd technical bit/steep bit here and there. Old mill track saw a bit more action and then onto the Emery track which was pretty tame (at one point the track broke up and the one we took might have actually been a chicken track I’m not sure- but they all joined up at glenpatrick). We decided against doing the north glenpatrick track after having a look at it as our vehicles were stock height on stock tyre sizes and this one looked a bit too mental for us. But in the right rig could be a lot of fun. After camping a night in glenpatrick at the reserve, we headed for the point Patrick track. We pulled over at the start of it for a while as it looked like we were going onto private property. It looked like the start of someone’s driveway, and there was a gate (that was open). After reading that other people thought the same but did it anyway we decided to go through. The start of the track takes you up to someone’s house then veers right before it starts. This track was awesome and had some quite technical bits that required consideration of lines. Some big rocks and step ups but not overly risky. Had to zig zag up one section to avoid diff bashing rocks. At the intersection jumped onto the mountain hut road which was another soft road track- taking us back out to the highway.
