Mt. Ive Trip - SA

Outback SA - First night was Kaniva (family visit) then on Balaklava S.A. for overnight stop. We spent 2 nights at Roxby Downs and toured the area including Andamooka were is a famous sculptor, Entry is gold coin or 1 can per person. Visited Woomera again - last time was 53yrs ago. Drove on to Kingoonya for 2nights (great pub meals). then took a drive to Tarcoola and drove the first 3k's of Goog's Track. Next stop was Mt Ive Station for 2nights and drove some of their internal tracks as well as a trip out to Lake Gairdner to see the salt pan. The Dry Land Racing Association (DLRA) had only just finished the land speed record attempts a fortnight earlier. Ther are new managers at Mt Ive - a young couple with 5 kids under 12yrs. Must return to finish the rest of their tracks. Port Germain was next stop for 2 nights and toured the Sth Gawler ranges. Lunch was at a town called Laura, where we had lunch and an ice-cream. Never tasted an ice-cream like it before, and is manufactured actually in Laura. Next place was Lake Bonney near Renmark. what a great place for photography and fishing. You can also drive around the lake edge by road. Our final 2nights was at Judy's brothers farm in Ararat to catch up with more family. Oh well, that's the end of another trip- only 3.5 hrs home
